I am starting a new series where every week or so I will interview a different blogger to give you guys some insight into who is out there blogging and maybe help you find some great new blogs to read.
For me, reading the blogs of different people is helping me see the breadth, diversity and wonder of the Church. I’m really rediscovering the Church through reading blogs and following links on those blogs to other blogs and so on and so on.

Today’s interview is with Kevin Martineau who writes the blog Shooting the Breeze.
Thanks Kevin for being our first victim Interviewee.
1) Who are you?
I have been a pastor for the last 12.5 years. I am currently the pastor of
Port Hardy Baptist Church on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. I have been married to my best friend (Lauren) for the past 15 years. We met at Bible school. I am the father of three wonderful girls: Bethany (10), Sydney (6) and Mallory (3). I enjoy reading, BBQ’s at the beach, golfing and watching hockey. I am passionate about serving God and living out my faith.
2) What is your blog about?
My blog is mainly about my spiritual journey – what God is teaching me. Sometimes I blog about random and humorous things as well.
3) Why did you get into blogging?
I started blogging in August of 2007 after I came back from a 2.5 month medical leave for burnout (I refer to it as my FORCED Sabbatical). My main reason to start blogging was to journal what God was teaching me. I learned a LOT during my time off and I wanted to be able to continue on in my journey towards spiritual and emotional health.
4) How often do you write new posts?
I try to blog every day (lately it has been two times a day:) I usually post after I have spent time reading the bible, praying and/or reading books. Most of what I write about comes from these sources. I also blog about life situations as they arise.
5) What is the best thing about blogging for you?
I enjoy being able to relate what God is teaching me on a daily basis. It helps me on my journey as it forces me to process what I am learning so that I can write it down. I have also enjoyed all the wonderful connections that I have made through blogging.
6) Apart from your blog, which other blogs would you recommend we read?
Thanks Kevin, I hope people find Shooting the Breeze to be as edifying and challenging as I do.
One quick note to our readers: blogging is a fairly thankless task. We do it because we love it but a little encouragement helps a lot every now and then. While you are out there on the net, reading blogs, please try to leave comments on posts you read even if it’s just to say you’ve been there. A short comment from you will go a long way to encouraging the blogger to keep writing!
Peter,
What a great idea! Thanks for doing this. I also follow his blog, its great stuff! God Bless!
Thanks Peter for inviting me to be your first victim.
Great interview Peter! I like what you’re doing!
Kevin has become a good friend of mine over this year, and I am blown away that he would recommend my blog in his interview with you.
I think Kevin writes some very good and deeply helpful stuff over at Shooting The Breeze!
Keep up the good work, both of you!!
