Today is April 29th 2009.

Today, as is the case every day, an estimated 500 Million people are living in poverty.

Today, as every day, a third of the people on this planet will not get enough food to eat.

Today, as every day, another third of the people on this planet will have very little or nothing to eat.

Today, as every day, you will probably overeat and do nothing to help those who are starving.

That last statement may have been a little offensive but tell me honestly, is it true?

How can we say that we are trying to love the world as Jesus loves it if we do nothing to help those who are less fortunate than ourselves?

Even in your town there are people going hungry today. People who don’t know where their next meal is coming from, people who don’t know when the next time they will have ANY food to put in their mouths.

I would encourage you to take a stand today and do SOMETHING. Anything. No matter how big or how small. Sell all your possessions and give the money to help the poor, buy a 79 cent burger from McDonald’s and give it to the homeless guy sitting outside or even visit Trey’s blog and donate to his Dump People ministry.

Do something today to not just tell the world that Jesus loves them but SHOW them that he loves them, and that you do too!

Matthew 25:34-40
“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

 “The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’
