Great post, Peter. One of my favorite movies is Amistad, concerning the trial of a group of slaves in colonial America. Their freedom was won not by clever legal maneuverings but by the simple telling of their story. That's always stuck with me. People are utterly amazing creatures. The more we learn about them, the more we learn about ourselves and our God. Yes, yes, YES! Great post, Peter.

I also love your statement: "Everyone has a story - just most of the time we are too preoccupied with our own navel-gazing to discover what those stories are." True, true, true! Today I was a guest at a friend's family reunion. It was a wonderful opportunity to lift my gaze from my navel and learn about the significant people in my friend's life. My own story is evolving, perhaps I'll share it on my blog, http://hereswhatithink-erlinda.blogspot.com/, once I get the words organized the way I want them to be. I love listening to or reading other people’s stories.
