We got home from our little trip to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom to find that the freezer door had not been fully closed before we went.
Pretty much everything was ruined.
This month we also have to renew Debbie’s nursing license, smog and register the car and pay the sign-up fee for the kid’s school.
On top of that, I just went outside and found that the car had an oil leak.
We didn’t have enough money to pay for everything as it was… now with this, I just have no idea how we’re going to survive the month financially.
… and all of this just goes to show how little faith I really have. As soon as a tiny bump appears in the road, I doubt God’s ability to help us over it.
I feel very hypocritical right now.
You are not a hypocrite. Jesus knows we need reassurance. That’s why he reassured us so much in the Gospels. He was always telling us that God loves us and is looking out for us because he knew we need to hear it.
Thanks Helen, I really appreciate it!
“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” 2Cor 12:9
My very favorite bible verse. And for good reason.
Why is it always so hard to cling to those verses when you really need them?
hurry up and put the google ads on your site and we’ll click on them and you’ll have some money! You have to get a license for smog?? That’s horrible.
Maybe god will help you come up with ideas to make money and get rid of the smog license in Cali, cause that’s pretty horrible. And did you really lose faith in god? Cause I looked at like you were just worried…maybe it’s the same thing, idk.
A license for smog…. I guess that’s exactly what it is. We have to have our cars checked to make sure they’re putting out enough smog before we can get them registered!
Yeah, I’m worried… but that’s the point. I KNOW that God is bigger than all of this and that he can and will take care of me and my family but right now I’m ignoring the part of me that know that and am allowing myself to look at everything from a human perspective. Which is something I regularly counsel people not to do.
I feel hypocritical because I talk about all this God stuff and then don’t live it out.
It’s time to start either living what I believe or stop believing it!
Your last statement nailed it.
Live as though it’s all true because it is.
God provides – sometimes it’s only for today. But then, that’s enough.
It’s only natural for us to get down and out over the trials of this life. To do less would make me wonder if you’re a real person.
This is one of the hardest things we can do – to live by faith and faith alone. Yet it’s what we’re called to do.
I’ve found that the more I exercise my faith in trusting God, the more He provides for whatever situation I find myself in.
Just hang in there – one step at a time, one problem at a time. The sorrowful attitude we so enjoy really is an obstruction – we have to get better at getting out of God’s way.
Thanks Joe, I always appreciate your advice!
God has a way of bringing us to our knees sometimes, and rattles our cages for our attention. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart…..” Works for me, IF I’m paying attention. Check back with us in a few weeks and tell us how He provided. He will. He promised.
I will! You can be sure of that!
It’s never too late to begin giving “thanks in all circumstances.” The Lord says He works ALL things for good to those who love Him. (Hope that’s not an overused platitude in your life.)
If you’re struggling to believe, then just begin thanking Him for something else.
Peter –
Don’t let your doubts condemn you. That’s what faith is about – overcoming doubts. Doubts will not vanish until we are living large in the New Earth. In the meantime, we take our doubts to God and he’ll deliver peace.
A hypocrite would be someone that says they never doubts.
How refreshingly honest! That is so cool! We’re all just human and it doesn’t put off God at all. I imagine him as my loving Father, with a knowing smile as he shakes his head at me sometimes! 😉
