If you’ve never heard of Katdish, you should read her blog and follow her on Twitter.
I say that because she’s awesome but also because she has very kindly donated two copies of Aaron Saufley’s The Jumbo Shrimp Gospel to my big giveaway.
The big drawing is going to be held next Thursday (September 10th 2009) at around 9pm PST. If you enter the giveaway, you could win a copy at that time as well as being in with a chance to win Max Lucado’s ‘Fearless’ or one of a whole bunch of other books.
There are also going to be daily drawings Sunday through Wednesday where you’ll have a chance to win other books.
I decided to kick things off a little early though, in a Rediscovering the Church kind of way:
I decided to select one blogger out of all the entrants into the giveaway for some special attention. I prayed about it and decided that the best way to pick that blogger was to use the random number generator at Random.org.
The generator picked number 24 which turned out to be Erlinda over at Here’s What I Think.
So here’s the deal: this giveaway is not all about getting new readers for my blog, it’s about helping us all to Rediscover the Church. That’s why I’ve offered bonus entries into the giveaway if you write guest posts, or go say Happy Birthday to Helen, or write about the subjects closest to my heart on your blog and it’s why, today, I’m giving two things to people who visit Erlinda’s blog.
If you go read her blog and make a comment, you will get:
- Two bonus entries into the big giveaway, which gives you two more chances to win every day – including the big finale on Thursday.
- An entry into a special extra giveaway of one of the copies of The Jumbo Shrimp Gospel.
Yes, you read it right. By commenting over at Erlinda’s blog, you get bonus entries PLUS the chance to win TODAY (actually, it’s tomorrow because I’m going to let it run until tomorrow afternoon).
So, head on over to Erlinda’s blog, say Hi, show her some love as a sister in Christ, enjoy what she has to say and tomorrow evening you could be the first winner in the Big Blogiversary Giveaway!
Peter, I just love how you’re all about bringing the family of God together. I mean, sure you do it through an unconventional method (social media and the internet), but I still think it’s awesome! You go, my brother! π
My day has been crammed and I’m just now checking out my reader. I knew you were giving away “Fearless” and already own a copy, so I hadn’t made it a point to comment on earlier posts, or rush over here today. Now I see you’re giving away “The Jumbo Shrimp Gospel,” a fact I must have missed. Sorry ’bout that! By all means, enter me for a copy of that one.
I just got back from a visit to Erlinda’s blog. THANK YOU for recommending her. I particularly appreciated Monday’s post (The Great Western Heresy) and left her a comment there.
I’m pretty amazed at you, Peter. I remember a week or so back when you mentioned feeling a little ineffective. I’ve been praying for you, and following your tweets. No matter what you say, I’m amazed at your faithfulness and persistence, your consistently upbeat spirit, and what you accomplish in a day, with or without chocolate–I mean Chocolate.
Keep it up. We all need your encouragement, including you.
Thanks Anne.
I’m really pretty terrible at taking compliments and feeling encouraged.
Chocolate certainly gets me through (that and the grace of God).
I am so far behind in my work, it’s just ridiculous. There are a couple of things that I’ve taken on that I’m going to have to let go of because it’s just too much.
I try.. but I feel like I fail daily!
Thanks for taking the time to share words of encouragement though!
I agree with Anne. Thanks for the encouragement, and for recommending Erlinda’s blog. She has some interesting things to share.
Thanks, Helen.
I really hope you and Erlinda both get some new readers through this!
Hey Peter,
You’re right. Katdish is pretty cool. And I’m stoked she donated several copies of my book for you to give away. I hope whoever wins it enjoys and is challenged by it.
You can check it out at http://jumboshrimpbook.wordpress.com
Thanks Aaron… I’m hoping someone who lives near me will win one so I can borrow it when they’ve read it! π
Or you could read it before you have to ship it!
That’s a good plan except 1) Katdish is shipping them directly and 2) If I read it first, it would be in pretty poor shape when it arrived, books seem to disintegrate in my hands π
Maybe I’ll just have to buy myself a copy!
I need to be challenged!
