Once again playing catchup...

Peter, I agree... and I don't. I used to feel the same way and I hate christian (intentional little c) talking-heads who shill for products to pay their way. I also don't understand how Christian radio goes commercial free when radio ministries are on, but the commercials come on full force once the talk-shows, news programs, etc come on. Because of that, I'm sympathetic to radio ministries more than stations. They have to pay for their air time and that adds up fast. But I've also warmed to supporting certain stations. That doesn't mean I have to be beaten over the head with it, as others mention.

Anyway, I've blogged on this a couple of times if you're interested: http://theoppositepc.blogspot.com/2009/10/support... and http://theoppositepc.blogspot.com/2009/04/christi...

I go on Facebook once or twice a day. I check out people's updates but only those who appear on the screen in front of me. It generally asks me if I want to see all 300 updates since I last looked... my answer is... NO! :-)

I'm sorry I hadn't seen your FB.

I found out about Katie because someone posted a link on Twitter, which I happened to see and click on. She's pretty inspiring!

LOL ... well I should be offended knowing you haven't been paying attention to my Facbook for the last month or so but I'm not. I'm just happy you found her and metioned her. No, I personally do not know Katie but about a month ago I learned of her blog from Jenny's blog (Jenny of Addison Road http://www.jennysimmons.com/ )
and spent a whole night going from the last post to the begining of her (Katies) journery it was like reading a great book of true life service to God filled with heartache and humbling and healing and most important the wholeness that consumes you when you finally get right where you have known God wants you , no matter what you have to do to get there.

ok so because you revealed (lol admitted) your don't even look at my Facebook, just how did you come to find out about Katie?

I'm a great believer in the George Mueller method: Ask constantly, just ask God not man.

However, to say that's the 'only' way would be nonsense, God uses different people in different ways and what he wants me to do might not be what he wants you to do.

I have to draw the line at some of the begging, pleading and emotional manipulation that goes on on the radio and through letters we receive though. It's like people leave the entire work of the Holy Spirit out of the equation!

I love the post and totally agree and it annoys me too especially for some one who can't afford to fill their MP3 with all the great music she wants lol ok I digress...

BUT the thing that got me most excited about this post is your mention and you even linked to Katie's site. THANK YOU!!
There are so many people /sites like this that need donations and aren't recognized by name just because they dont get mulit-million dollar donations every year so they get passed by some many, un-knowingly and really by no flault of their own. Just because people that have a voice and can bring attention to them either just don't or haven't heard of them either. so again you have my heart felt thanks,. Even if just one person donates or just one other person learns of Katies story and then 'mentions' it to another....well thats how word gets around and needs can be prayed for and help can come forth even if just in the form of prayers becuase so far thats what Katie has been living on prayers.

well, here is the other side...if everyone that did listen gave just a little, they would not have to ask/beg....or would they still ask for more? who knows?

we all want more than we need, don't we?

I like my iPod tunes, too, but do listen to radio from now and then - just not this time of year. I mean, when my shuffle takes me to the Muppets "National Association of W Lovers Club" or Bert & Ernie singing "I Don't Want to Live on the Moon," who can go wrong? Yeah, I forgot to take that childhood album out of my music when I synced. They'll get my donation, just don't ask me 20 times a day.

I'm with you, Peter. This time of year I keep my radio dial elsewhere. I'd much rather hear the same songs over and over than how the very soul of the local Christian radio station is in dire straits and only I can save it.

Ugh.
