All of the homeless people I have ever met have been incredibly grateful and thankful. I've never experienced any form of threatening behavior from them at all. That doesn't mean I won't one day meet a homeless person who does not have 'good' things at heart but then I've met store clerks who I've been kind of scared of! I dread the days when on the freeway offramp I'm approached by one of 'the sign people'. My kids always want to give them money and I'm usually too skeptical to give in. Sometimes she'll briing them a blanket (we live in Chicago). I always find myself telling her to be careful, and she is always telling me there is no need because these are good people who have fallen on hard times. It's hard enough to trust people you know and work with, much less strangers. I do admire my cousin for her compassion. I just hope she will be safe.
