I have a hard time feeling compassion for people in other countries who live in horrible conditions.
This is not because I’m heartless, it’s simply because I can’t comprehend what their lives are truly like. The images I see on TV and in print media simply are not enough for me to truly empathize with.
CharityWater.org have changed that for me though. This commercial brought it all home to me. I was beginning to suspect that I am heartless, but… well, just watch the commercial and you’ll understand. (If you’re reading this through RSS, you may need to visit my blog to be able to see the video)
I don’t know about you, but this cut me to the heart. Can you even imagine having to give your children water like that?
I can’t.
No. I can't imagine drinking water like that. That is very disturbing.
Yet Millions, BILLIONS of people have to.
Disturbing is a very good word for it.
Years ago I edited USAID country reports. The conditions described in those reports often were beyond appalling. Few Americans have any idea what it is like to be without "conveniences" we take for granted every day.
This clip is effective because it really needs no words.
That's funny you mentioned this Peter. I had written on this in the past week too. http://becominglast.wordpress.com/2009/10/21/help…
Definitely a quality organization.
I am very impressed with your blog and how much time you have put into making it speak God’s Word. I just released my blog http://awalkoffaith.wordpress.com and am excited about how God will use it to transform the hearts of men and women who are hungry for the Word and are ready to walk with Him. It would mean the world to me if you could check out my blog and share it with those around you.
God bless and thank you for taking the time to look at my blog.
