I used to pop in a VCR tape for toddlers while I had kitchen work to do. It dawned on me that I wanted my two little girls to grow up without the cullinarily-challenged handicap of their mother. So I started bringing them into the kitchen with me, giving them tasks like washing vegatables, cracking eggs (into a separate bowl), etc. Plenty was done with less adeptness than even my modest skill. But now, my 16-yr-old has pretty much taken over the kitchen, confidently rescuing our family from my cooking. (And I'll have you know, Mr. Pollock, that even at my age I'm as up for a friendly competitive game as my younger counterparts--as long as it's not full-contact co-ed.
