With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be. Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? My brothers, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.
Have you ever thought about the words you say like that?
Have you ever thought that your mouth is the mouth you praise God with… and what else are you doing with it?
Challenging thoughts.
Good thoughts! Though I don't like to actually think about what I say … thanks for the reminder.
I don't like thinking about what I say… but I guess we all need to.
good word.
Thanks, Nancy
I like the phrase, "Do you kiss your mother with that mouth?"
That reminds me of the move "Analyze This". Which I thought about when I wrote the post but stayed WAYYY clear of!
Sometimes I'll remember this scripture right after I've been really self righteously "right" toward my husband/kids/whomever, and I'll go apologize. Being "right" is never more important than the relationship.
Now THAT'S the truth!
