Come Meet Me at The Type-A Parents’ Conference

I am so excited that I can barely type, but I’m going to forge ahead and we’ll get through this… just bear with me.

I read on someone’s blog a couple of months ago that their goal for this year is to get one speaking gig to talk about social media and at that moment I knew that I should set myself some goals like that because I REALLY want to be able to help more people with their blogging / hosting questions.

I’ve been meaning to write a post about it ever since but have never quite gotten around to it – and now it’s a little late!

Why? I hear you ask (no, really, I could hear you asking “why?”).

Well… it’s a little late because a couple of months ago, I submitted a speaker proposal to the Type-A Parent’s Conference ( thanks to a lot of help from many of you) but my proposal didn’t make the cut.

Then, on Tuesday, I woke up to an email in my inbox from one of the awesome ladies at the conference asking if I would go there and speak on WordPress Security.

Yeah, you read that right, they asked me to go speak there!!!!!

Woo……Hoo!!!!

I can’t tell you how much of an answer to prayer that was, because we had been considering sponsoring the conference, but the cost was holding us back. There’s no telling whether we’d get any new business at all out of the sponsorship and so it could be a big wad of cash down the drain.

Being asked to speak there though sealed the deal. It makes the expense so much more worth it.

I really can’t tell you how excited I am to be able to go and talk about one of the things I love (WordPress) and in the process be able to help (hopefully) more people make their blogs even more excellent.

I can barely contain my excitement!!!

This is taken from the site:

Type-A Parent Conference, in its third year, is designed to help social media/blogging parents and the companies who want to connect with them take it to the next level. The conference will feature some of the most influential, admired and insightful bloggers and social media thought leaders talking about topics like power networking, branding, blogging, finding your voice, and turning your passion for blogging into a real paycheck.

I am so excited to be a part of this and we are now proud sponsors of the event as well!

So the question now is… what are you doing June 23rd-25th 2011?

Are you planning on going to the Type-A Parent’s Conference? If not… why not come along?

It’s in Asheville, NC. I’d love to meet you, sit down and have a coffee or something and I’m sure you’ll get a whole lot out of the sessions and meeting all the great people there!

If you want to go, you can go directly here to sign up.

Come on… what are you waiting for?

About PeterP

I am a blogger, author, stay at home dad, speaker, web hosting trainer and geek (I was so excited to get an iPad that I actually made up a song and dance about it). I am English by birth, but currently live in California with my wife and our three children. I ran a web hosting business for nine years and found that many, if not most of my clients had never learned how to use any of the functions associated with hosting so I wrote a book to try and teach just those skills. I must admit to having fallen in love with WordPress (possibly a little TOO much) and I honestly find it hard to understand why anyone would use anything different to build a site! WordPress is wonderful! My passion is to help others achieve their goals with their websites/blogs. I believe that, with a little help, anyone can have an awesome site.

What am I doing 23rd – 25th June? Well, your mother is retiring. Her last working day is June 22nd. I think we will be celebrating.

    1. PeterP says:

The significance of the date did not pass me by.

Coincidently, given that I’ll be 2000 miles from home and you’ll be a retired couple, a babysitter would be really useful….

      1. Father Stephen says:

Just because we are old doesn’t mean we need to be baby sat.

        1. PeterP says:

I’m making no comments on the validity of your assertion…

However, being old DOES mean that you can BE good babysitters!

This is awesome Peter, but Father Stephen’s comment thread just got you hijacked. Awesome. Wish I could be there, but I have my own babysitting to do πŸ™‚

  2. Congratulations, Peter — that’s great news. I’ve heard so many great things about you and your expertise in WordPress (Jennifer Lee, Katdish, etc). — I know you will have a lot of advice to offer (don’t hate me because I am on blogger!).

    1. PeterP says:

Thanks, Michelle, I really appreciate it.

Don’t believe all the hype about me though, I try not to πŸ™‚

I won’t hate you because you’re on blogger, but I will beckon to you to come into the light….

Congrats! When I got my email about speaking I literally started jumping around the room. LOL So – yes – I will be at TypeA and I love WordPress.

    1. PeterP says:

      Hi Jendi,

It’s such an awesome email to get, isn’t it?

They haven’t put me on the schedule yet, so I don’t know when I’ll be speaking but your session is one I REALLY need to go to, so I hope the two don’t coincide!

  4. I will be there, attending your session, and taking notes! πŸ™‚

    1. PeterP says:

      Awesome!

They haven’t revised to schedule yet to add me in, but I’ll be there some time.

If you miss the session, don’t worry, come find me and I will go through it with you… and bring any other queries with you and I’ll see what I can do to answer them!

Looking forward to meeting you there!

  5. Helen says:

I don’t know what I’ll be doing, but I won’t be there, since I am not a parent. ;-( I do, however, wish you well and hope you get plenty of business from this gig! πŸ™‚

    1. PeterP says:

      πŸ™

Thanks, Helen. I hope so too, but more important than that is that I get to help a bunch of people out and make some new friends!
