So Busy, So Stressed, So Sorry

I woke up yesterday morning and told my wife that I had just realized I only had two work days left until I go away to the Type A Conference.

This wouldn’t be too big of a deal except:

  1. This is my first time speaking at a conference
  2. We’re also one of the conference sponsors and have a lot riding on this

I have a list of things I need to do before I leave on Tuesday and it’s something like 34 items long.

It’s on a flip-chart in my living room reminding me constantly that there’s so much to do and so little time to do it.

I had yesterday (Friday) and today to accomplish everything and then we’d have Sunday, which is a non-work day after which my wife would be working so I would have the kids all day Monday and then again Tuesday, right up until it was time for me to leave.

I wasn’t really prepared for this!

About 30 minutes after I started work yesterday, my Laptop decided to die.

Just like that. No warning, it just died.

It took me until five O’Clock yesterday afternoon to find and buy a new one and then it took most of the evening to get it up and running with all my software.

So essentially I lost the whole of one of my two remaining work days.

I’m feeling rushed and unprepared now!

On top of that, quite a few website projects that I had started for customers and have been on the back burner suddenly got brought to the fore again and so I’m trying to work out how and when I can work on them and still do everything I need for the conference.

I’m So Sorry

If you’re waiting for me to do something for you, work on a site, respond to an email, whatever it is I’M SORRY for the delay.

If you’re sick of me going on about the conference, I’m sorry for that, too. This is a huge event for us and it has kind of been consuming my thoughts for the past few weeks. I promise I probably maybe might not be like this if I ever go to any more conferences. Probably. Maybe.

I’m doing my best to get through everything and respond to everyone so please bear with me. You’ve not been forgotten!

Time seems to be marching on much faster than I am! I’m getting there though.

I just wish my stomach would stop churning in nervousness and excitement.

If you want to know more about what I’m doing at the conference etc, I wrote about my speaking here and about what I’m speaking on here and then we’re exhibiting as and hoping to sell 40 new hosting plans, which will give us enough in our Well Fund to buy our first well for a village in Africa.

Forty is an incredible amount to sell at a conference for 400… but we’re praying for miracles!

About PeterP

I am a blogger, author, stay at home dad, speaker, web hosting trainer and geek (I was so excited to get an iPad that I actually made up a song and dance about it). I am English by birth, but currently live in California with my wife and our three children. I ran a web hosting business for nine years and found that many, if not most of my clients had never learned how to use any of the functions associated with hosting so I wrote a book to try and teach just those skills. I must admit to having fallen in love with WordPress (possibly a little TOO much) and I honestly find it hard to understand why anyone would use anything different to build a site! WordPress is wonderful! My passion is to help others achieve their goals with their websites/blogs. I believe that, with a little help, anyone can have an awesome site.
