The Nerves Are Building… BlogWorld Here We Come!

This has been one CRAZY year!

It never ceases to amaze me how much can happen in the space of just a few months and I often wonder why we look forward at the year ahead often just assuming it’s going to be the same old same old.

At the end of 2010 I could never have imagined the things that would happen to me this year and I say that realizing we still have two full months of the year left!

Here’s a quick summary of the year so far:

As I write this, I’m just thirty hours away from getting in my car to drive down to L.A. to visit and speak at the biggest event of my life so far!

BlogWorld is HUGE!

A few statistics:

  • 307 speakers (see list)
  • 25 tracks, including Web TV, Food, and Cause
  • Over 4,000 attendees (from over 30 different countries)
  • Held over three days at the L.A. Conference Center
  • … and I’m a part of it.

    Little me.

It’s a huge honor and a very exciting opportunity but I’m beginning to get a touch nervous now.

I’m not a big people person. I’m very shy and introverted and when you go to an event that 4000 people are attending where one of the main aims is to network and meet new people, the prospect can be a little, let’s say, daunting!

I’m sure it’s going to be fine and the session I’m doing will go well (although my preparation run-throughs have not been so good thus far).

But the prospect of it looming on the near horizon is definitely making me nervous!

If you’re going to be at BlogWorld, I’d love to meet you. It might not look that way because I’ll be the shy little mouse cowering in the corner, but I’d love it if you came up and said HI!

If you’re not coming, WHY NOT? It’s not to late to buy tickets!

Click here to buy a ticket and use the code: BWEVIP20 to get yourself a 20% discount!

Alternatively, you can click here to buy a ticket to the virtual conference where you can see all the sessions online without ever having to leave the comfort of your living room!

Oh, and if you come to my session on Friday, you could be in for a chance to win a $10 Starbucks gift card or a copy of the Splinter Cell Trilogy for PS3!

    About PeterP

I am a blogger, author, stay at home dad, speaker, web hosting trainer and geek (I was so excited to get an iPad that I actually made up a song and dance about it). I am English by birth, but currently live in California with my wife and our three children. I ran a web hosting business for nine years and found that many, if not most of my clients had never learned how to use any of the functions associated with hosting so I wrote a book to try and teach just those skills. I must admit to having fallen in love with WordPress (possibly a little TOO much) and I honestly find it hard to understand why anyone would use anything different to build a site! WordPress is wonderful! My passion is to help others achieve their goals with their websites/blogs. I believe that, with a little help, anyone can have an awesome site.

I met so many wonderful people at Type-A because someone took me under their wing and introduced me to a lot of people.

I just hope I can find a champion like that at BlogWorld!

    3. Peter, I hope you have an amazing experience there and you can share your knowledge and experience with lots of people.

All the best for Friday Pete. I like your video on the Blogworld site about why people should go to the conference. Perhaps when you are doing your presentation you should just imagine you are sitting on your sofa at home talking into a camera.

Just remember the basic rules – 1. Turn off your cell phone. 2. Don’t jingle money or keys in your pocket. 3. Smile. 4.Talk as if you are addressing the person right at the back of the room. 5. Tell them what you are going to say, say it, and conclude by telling them what you have said.
