I was really excited about the word ‘approved’ and I’m sure we’re going to get some stunningly good posts out of it… but then it came time for me to write my own post and all I could hear was the sound of screeching brakes as my inspiration engine came to a grinding halt.
My sister wrote a blog post a while ago titled, “Make it Count” which starts by talking about how Nike have graduated from inspiring people to ‘Just do it’ to exhorting them to ‘make it count’.
That post struck a chord with me and I’ve thought about it every time I’ve sat down to write since then.
I don’t want to write for the sake of writing.
I’d love to post something every day but I’d rather post just once a week (or even less) and actually make it count.
Substance before quantity is what I’m aiming for because if I’m going to sit down to write, I want to write something that will make a difference, something that can inspire or move people, something that will encourage or exhort or teach.
I want to make it count.
I am far from perfect and I’m sure many times what I do end up writing isn’t of the quality that I want and doesn’t have the impact that I dream it does, but that’s life. I may fail, but at least I’m going to TRY to make it count.
So there is no post for today from me, because nothing I could come up with got that ‘approved’ stamp.
I couldn’t come up with anything that I could say YES! I sat down and wrote and I made it count.
So please, take the time to visit the other posts in this carnival because I’m sure some, if not ALL, the other writers made it count today!
