Surprise! You Have a New Book Out

My latest book, The Basics of a Hosting Business on Amazon.com hit the shelves yesterday… and I had no idea!

Around midnight on Friday night I was taking a quick jaunt through my Facebook feed and came across something that totally surprised me – my name on the cover of a new book!

Now don’t get me wrong, I knew I’d written the book, you can’t write 14,000 words without noticing it. What I didn’t know though was that it was coming out NOW – and that I’d be given writing credit.

The Basics of a Hosting Business (paperback, Kindle) was the concept of the lovely folk at WHMCS and was designed to assist people starting new web hosting companies. I was asked to write it for them, but at the most I was expecting my name to appear at the bottom of the fly-leaf. They’ve given me full credit for writing it though, for which I am incredibly grateful.

I was asked to use advice from the input of hundreds of entrepreneurs in the hosting industry and the expertise of the staff at WHMCS to create a book which can guide people who are starting, or thinking of starting, their own hosting business through the process of getting off the ground.

Believe it or not, I kind of missed a few deadlines, which I know is virtually unheard of for a writer, but the final product came out better than I had envisioned because of the excellent advice and assistance I needed from so many different people.

I can’t tell you how shocking it is to see that Amazon have you listed as the author of another book when you weren’t expecting it and it goes to show the kindness and integrity of the people at WHMCS that they would give me the honor of front-cover billing rather than just calling it a WHMCS company effort.

The book, obviously, promotes WHMCS’s product, which is a billing, administration and automation tool for web hosts and I wouldn’t have agreed to write it had it not been for my experience as a host using WHMCS and interacting with their staff on support issues.

I know that many of the people reading this have no use for the book as they are not in the hosting industry, but if you are, I highly recommend both WHMCS and cPanel for their business ethos, their excellent products and their outstanding support.

I have no idea what my next book will be…. but I’m looking forward to finding out and seeing my name on Amazon again!

The Basics of a Hosting Business is also available from Amazon in the UK in paperback and on Kindle

About PeterP

I am a blogger, author, stay at home dad, speaker, web hosting trainer and geek (I was so excited to get an iPad that I actually made up a song and dance about it). I am English by birth, but currently live in California with my wife and our three children. I ran a web hosting business for nine years and found that many, if not most of my clients had never learned how to use any of the functions associated with hosting so I wrote a book to try and teach just those skills. I must admit to having fallen in love with WordPress (possibly a little TOO much) and I honestly find it hard to understand why anyone would use anything different to build a site! WordPress is wonderful! My passion is to help others achieve their goals with their websites/blogs. I believe that, with a little help, anyone can have an awesome site.

Wow, Pete, you kept all that hard work incredibly quiet! Congratulations!

    Great stuff Peter!

But why is the Kindle version currently unavailable? And why are there two different pages on Amazon for the two different versions? Usually, Amazon will list all versions of a book on the same page.

      JJ,

The kindle version is being fixed. Not totally sure why it got taken down. I think we adjusted the price too often and they got mad! 🙂

The pages for the two have to be linked manually, so we are going to have them do that when the Kindle version is back up, I believe.

    Argh!!!

I’ve just tried to buy this on Amazon because I need a crash course really urgently to help me through WHMCS over the next few days, but it’s not available. Any idea when it will be back?
