Kevin Martineau over at Shooting the Breeze has had a cool idea.
He always (or almost always) posts links to the top five blog posts he has read that week (in his opinion) and now he has added in a feature called Mr Linky which allows other bloggers to add a link at the bottom of his top five posts to their own top five.
What I like about this is the sense of community it creates and the way it starts pulling smaller blogging communities together. I’ve noticed that a lot of the blogs that I read are also read by people who read my blog. When they do top 5 lists, it helps me see what other blogs they read that I don’t know about, which opens up whole new worlds of little circles (or sometimes very big circles in the case of SCL) of bloggers.
To me, this is what Rediscovering the Church is all about. It’s about finding parts of the Church that I never knew existed and reading their ups and downs and hearing what God is saying to them.
So why not write a blog post where you list your five favorite posts from the last week and link to it on Kevin’s post so that we can all share in what you have been reading.
My top five goes like this:
- Carey Neiuwhof wrote some awesome posts but I can’t link to them because my server won’t allow me to link to anything on the blogging system he uses. Kevin links to them though so have a look on his top five!
- AndyC our interviewee of the week wrote a great post about selling out to a person not a cause.
- Mike Ellis always posts great stuff. Two this week caught my eye specifically. The first made me say “God, make me into a man like Norm.” The second just has some awesome quotes in it!
- Red Letter Believers wrote a great post about Turbulence which I feel is very timely.
- Finally, Pastor Chad at Listening to the Wind wrote a post on being unknown which really spoke to me. While you’re there check out the video on this post. I would have loved to have been there to see it!
OK, so I cheated and put two posts under some of those so there’s more than five but I’m OK with it if you are!
I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I did!
Thanks for always participating Peter! I hope others will get on board with the idea as well.
Mr. Linky is back up and running! 🙂
I like this idea! I’ll have to participate this week…
