No cute picture today, I just don’t have the time. So much to do, so very little time to do it in…
However, I wanted to give out a praise report or two.
Firstly, I wrote t’other day offering Christian writers the opportunity to write guest posts for my blog – and something wonderful, that I did not expect in the slightest, happened.
The way we see of things is very often completely different to how God sees them. The responses to that post were a fine example of God looking at things very differently to me.
When I wrote that post I was just thinking of authors, published or trying-to-get-published authors. What God was thinking of though was the Church (as always).
I was hoping and expecting to get authors writing posts so I could promote their blogs and books a little and help generate some more sales for them.
God was intending to help me rediscover the Church a little more – and it took me a while to realize it.
People started commenting and emailing me saying they’d like to do guest posts, which was great, but many of them have never written a book and, at this time, don’t intend to write them. I was happy to allow them to do guest posts but it sure wasn’t them that I was thinking of when I gave out the offer.
Then God reminded me that The Church is out there and it is made up of all kinds of different people with all kinds of different personalities and all kinds of different gifts. One of the biggest problems that I think the Church faces is that we, the members, are way too prejudiced and, frankly, we can’t see past the ends of our own noses sometimes. How many churches do you know of that are truly diverse in the types of people in membership? How many churches do you know of where you feel you just wouldn’t ‘fit in’ because you don’t use the right brand of ‘Christianese’ or don’t dress quite the right way or don’t act in accordance with some 14th century by-laws? (or even because you DO act in accordance with a set of 14th Century by-laws?)
It’s sad but true that too many churches exclude people who don’t fit into their mold – and God helped me see that, if I truly want to rediscover this big, beautiful Church of his, I need to leave my preconceptions and prejudices at the door and come discover what I’ve been missing.
With that revelation it became apparent that, if I want to blog about rediscovering the Church, I should stop just talking about it and let you all experience the wondrous variety in the Church.
So I am opening this offer to any Christian bloggers. If you’d like to write a guest post, leave a comment or use the contact form and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
(If you’ve already written to me and I haven’t responded, please be patient. I’m overloaded at the moment!)
Secondly, I wanted to give a shout out to a lady who gave me some time yesterday to encourage me and give me some advice about my book.
Her name is Andrea Gruen and she makes the most awesome gifts. They’re called ‘Clings’ check out her website here.
Thanks Andrea, you’re a gift from God and a great blessing to me!
The Church is full of INCREDIBLE people!
I love how God does these things!
I’d love it if I could write about it a little more succinctly!
