If I Could Ask God Anything by Kathryn Slattery – book review

What would your kids ask?

This great little book gives the answers to umpteen different questions that children might ask about their faith covering everything from “What is an Advent wreath?” (I didn’t know the answer to that one) to “What is Intercessory prayer?” (I knew that one. Phew!)

If I could Ask God Anything is full of answers which are biblically grounded and proven and written in a way which children will be able to understand. I will be using this book with my own children to teach them and to easily find well written answers to some tricky questions.

The best compliment I can give this book is to relate the true story of what happened when it arrived at my house.

I love when new books arrive through the mail and when I heard this come through the mail slot I hurried to open the package and see what was inside.

I flicked through a few pages and was excited to be able to sit down and read through it. I lay it down on the counter and at that moment, my seven year old daughter walked into the room. Seeing the book laying next to me, she picked it up and read the title.

“Oh, I’d ask two questions,” she said, “Where did God come from and why did Jesus have to die.”

I took the book from her and checked the very well laid out contents page and sure enough, the answers to both questions were to be found within.

My daughter was impressed, as was I. The book did EXACTLY what it says on the cover.

That’s enough for me!
